What is special about our meetings?

Would you like to host a meeting? We have created some guidelines for the local management of meetings. This should give you a good idea of the work involved.

The mcg meets twice a year at different museums throughout the United Kingdom and provide a forum for discussion between sector professionals who work with computers and new technologies.

The host museum usually provides a programme of talks on a variety of topics including: Museum websites, Multimedia projects, Collections databases and IT infrastructure.

As well as learning from reports of what went well, members feel they learn much from what did not go so well.

Other speakers are invited for the afternoon session, and short 'databursts' are included to provide an opportunity to update the community about new or ongoing projects.

Some meetings are held over two days in which case an evening meal is usually organized at a local restaurant - potential for networking! The group holds meetings at venues around the country to give members a chance to attend at least once a year.

The mcg also organises UKMW. The goal of UKMW is to provide a very affordable national one-day conference aimed at bringing together those in the sector keen to use the online environment as effectively as possible.
