MINUTES

1. The minutes of the AGM held 17th April 2002 at the Potteries Museum in Stoke were approved by the meeting. There were no matters arising.

2. Apologies for absence were received from Alex Bromley, Jane Carmichael, Jonathan Moffat, Sue Julian-Ottie, and Charles Pettitt.

3. Sue Gordon, Chair of the MCG, made a brief report on the Group's activities over the past year. She thanked Frances Lloyd-Baynes and the Victoria and Albert Museum for hosting the Autumn 2002 meeting and John Roles and Brighton Museum for hosting this year's AGM and Spring meeting. The Group had been pleased to give their support to the Leicester Spring School in New Media and the Jodi Mattes Access Award for the most accessible museum website of the year. Founder member of the MCG, Charles Pettitt, had been made an honorary life member during the year. As outgoing Chair, Sue Gordon thanked the Committee and their employers for their support and in particular for their hard work in developing the MCG as a forum for ICT and new technologies in museums by the introduction of a constitution and subscriptions. The next MCG meeting will take place at the Tate Modern in London on 23 October, 2003. Sue Gordon wished the MCG every success in the future.

4. The Secretary/Treasurer reported on the Groups finances. The MCG bank account is in credit and includes monies from the 2001 UK Museums and the Web conference. These will be put towards the next UK Museums and the Web conference. At the end of the 2002/3 financial year membership stood at 218 paid up members.

5. In the absence of the Newsletter editor, Sue Gordon read out a short statement on behalf of Sue Julian-Ottie who wished to thank everyone who had contributed to the Newsletter over the past year and appealed for articles for future issues. Details of how to contribute to the Newsletter can be found in the Newsletter itself or on the MCG website. Sue Julian-Ottie's contact details can also be found in the forthcoming issue of the News letter - these have changed as she will be working from home whilst on maternity leave. The next Newsletter should reach members early in the week beginning 21st April. Sample articles taken from the last edition of the Newsletter can be found on the MCG website www.museumscomputergroup.org.uk.

6. Mike Lowndes, MCG Website editor and committee member for UK Museums and the Web gave a short report on the development of the new MCG website and progress towards the next UK Museums and the Web day conference. This will take place at The Royal Society in Piccadilly, London on Monday 17th November, 2003. Mike appealed for sponsors for this event, which, it is hoped, will be free to delegates.

7. There were no questions from the floor.

8. Elections to the MCG Committee:
· Sue Gordon stood down as Chair. Debbie Richards was proposed by Stuart Mann, seconded by David Dawson and elected unopposed.
· Charles Pettit had resigned as Archivist during the year and Ross Parry co-opted to this position. Ross Parry was proposed by Sue Gordon and elected unopposed.
· Debbie Richards' election to Chair created an Ordinary Member vacancy on the Committee: Bryan Wills volunteered to stand for this position and was seconded by Anna Rotondara. Bryan was elected unopposed.
· The Chair proposed John Chester of West Lords, Eastbourne be re-elected as honorary auditor for the MCG accounts. Mr Chester was re-elected unopposed by the meeting.

9. There was no other business.

At the end of the day, Sue was presented with a large bouquet as thanks for her considerable work as Chair of the MCG.
